Recruitement
Mercenaries are various hireable troops, available in cities via the same recruitment screens used for faction troops. The only troops you can hire in every city are Watchman and Caravan Guard.
If you want to hire higher level mercenaries, you need to recruit them in towns with Mecenary Chapterhouse improvement. Mercenaries are generally more expensive than faction troops
Lords and Mercenaries
Since Lords can recruit mercenaries too, one should pay more attention to the troops that Lords have, because in Silverstag, even Nord and Rhodok lords can have a cavalry. While mercenary mounted soldiers are not as strong as the best faction mounted troops, they are still strong and shouldn't be underestimated.

Regional mercenaries
Some of the Silverstag specific mercenaries are faction specific, meaning you can hire them only in that faction's locations. An example of that mercanery is Swadian Mercenary
